Kyuzo Mifune and Jigoro KanoKyuzo Mifune is very possibly the best Judo exponent ever… often referred to as “God of Judo”.

Mifune sensei began training Judo in 1903 at the Kodokan under the direction of the founder, Jigoro Kano, and received his Shodan (1st degree black belt) in 15 months.  4 short months later he was already a “Nidan” (2nd degree black belt).

“True spirit of Judo is nothing but the gentle and diligent free spirit. Judo rests on flexible action of mind and body. The word flexible however never means weakness but something more like adaptability and openmindedness. Gentleness always overcomes strength. ~ Kyuzo Mifune”

The included video is includes instruction by Kyuzo Mifune Sensei (on various throws and counter), and also includes a very interesting randori (free sparring) section. Additionally this video includes some ‘goshin jutsu” (self-defense) techniques of judo as well.
